Biography
Awonder Liang is one of the youngest GMs in the history of chess (he won the GM title in May 2017, at the age of 14). Previously, he had become the youngest International Chess Master in US history. (12 years, 7 months and 16 days). He has been World Chess Champion for his age on two occasions (U-8 in 2011 in Brazil, and U-10 in 2013 in the United Arab Emirates). In 2016, he reached the number one world chess player of his age (13 years), and set the record of being the youngest player in the world to defeat a chess Grand Master. In 2017 and 2018 Awonder Liang won the US Junior Championship. He is currently the No. 1 player in the Americas at his age (16).
